Juvenile Offender Case Management (JCM)
JCM is for those youth that have exhausted all community resources and are unable to be successful in their current environment. Once a youth has exhausted all resources a judge can order youth into the custody of the Department of Corrections Juvenile Services.
Each youth is supervised by a case manager who serves as the youths care-taker for the duration that the youth is in custody. The case manger is charged with the responsibility of finding an appropriate placement option to best serve the youths needs. Placment options can range from very intense (where all the services the youth would need occur in one location) to independent living programs.
The case manager works very closely with the youths placement to ensure he / she is receiving the appropriate level of services needed in order to return home (when applicable). In some situations this is the last level of services available to the youth before a juvenile correctional facility setting is considered by the court.
