The Board of Directors consists of members representing the consumers of services by Big Lakes Developmental Center, the medical profession, the legal profession, educators, government officials, the business community, and individuals representing mental retardation and related health organizations.

In addition to the President and Chief Executive Officer, the Board of Directors is composed of at least one director from each county served by Big Lakes Developmental Center. The maximum number that can serve on the Board of Directors is limited to 12.

Meetings

Meetings of the Board of Directors are usually held on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m.

Purpose

Big Lakes Developmental Center, Inc. provides services to persons with developmental disabilities in Riley, Geary, Clay, and Pottawatomie counties. The Board of Directors governs the provision of these services. The directors are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners of the county that is represented by such member from a list of names submitted by Big Lakes Developmental Center. The Board of Directors consists of members representing the consumers of services by Big Lakes Developmental Center, the medical profession, the legal profession, educators, government officials, the business community, and individuals representing mental retardation and related health organizations.
